1. About the SMS service

Homefront Honor Foundation may use SMS for conversational and service-related communications involving:

  • Responding to questions or inquiries
  • Following up regarding an assistance request
  • Coordinating resource information or referrals
  • Scheduling or confirming meetings or activities
  • Communicating with volunteers, staff, board members, donors, partners, or participants
  • Providing administrative or service-related updates
  • Responding to communications initiated by the recipient

The service is intended primarily for low-volume, person-to-person communication. It is not currently intended for unsolicited advertising, automated promotional campaigns, or mass-marketing broadcasts.

2. Availability of programs and services

Homefront Honor Foundation is a developing nonprofit organization. Certain programs, referral options, communication features, events, volunteer activities, or assistance processes described in these terms may not be available at all times or to every individual.

References to assistance, referrals, appointments, volunteering, donations, programs, or related services describe potential uses of SMS and do not represent that every listed service is currently open or available.

Information requested through SMS will depend on:

  • The nature of the communication
  • The services currently available
  • The information you voluntarily provide
  • What is reasonably necessary to respond
  • Applicable privacy, security, legal, and operational requirements
3. How you may opt in

You may consent to SMS communication by:

  • Providing your mobile number and expressly agreeing to receive text messages
  • Selecting an SMS-consent option on an HHF form
  • Requesting that an authorized HHF representative contact you by text
  • Initiating a text-message conversation with HHF
  • Responding affirmatively to a consent request
  • Providing verbal or written consent that HHF appropriately documents

Consent applies only to communications from Homefront Honor Foundation and to the purpose for which the consent was provided.

Consent to receive SMS messages is optional. It is not required as a condition of receiving assistance, donating, volunteering, making an inquiry, or participating in an available HHF program.

You represent that you are the subscriber, customary user, or otherwise authorized user of the mobile number provided.

4. Message frequency and carrier charges

Message frequency

Message frequency varies based on your interaction, your request, whether you continue the conversation, and the amount of follow-up reasonably needed.

Messages may include an initial identification of Homefront Honor Foundation and instructions for receiving help or opting out.

Message and data rates

Homefront Honor Foundation does not charge a fee to participate in the SMS service. Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your wireless carrier, device, service plan, and location.

You are responsible for charges imposed by your wireless provider.

5. How to opt out

You may withdraw SMS consent at any time by replying with a recognized opt-out request, including:

STOP QUIT END CANCEL UNSUBSCRIBE REVOKE OPT OUT

HHF will also honor another clear and reasonable statement that you no longer wish to receive text messages.

After opting out, you may receive one final confirmation stating that your request was processed. No additional SMS messages will be sent through that conversation unless you later provide renewed consent or initiate a new conversation.

You may also request an opt-out through email, telephone, or another available HHF contact method.

To resume receiving messages after opting out, reply START or provide new documented consent.

8. Sensitive information and SMS security

SMS may not provide the same privacy or security protections as an approved encrypted communication method.

  • Medical records, diagnoses, treatment records, or medication lists
  • Social Security numbers
  • Complete financial-account or routing information

When sensitive information is necessary, HHF may direct you to encrypted email, a secure form, protected document sharing, a telephone call, an in-person meeting, or another approved communication method.

HIPAA clarification

Use of the HHF SMS service does not establish that HHF is acting as a HIPAA-covered entity or business associate, does not create a healthcare provider-patient relationship, and does not authorize sending Protected Health Information through SMS.

If sensitive information is sent without being requested, HHF may restrict access, redirect the conversation to a more secure method, limit use of the information, or securely delete it when retention is not reasonably necessary or legally required.

9. Availability, delivery, and carrier limitations

SMS delivery depends on systems and conditions that may be outside HHF’s control, including:

  • Mobile-network availability
  • Carrier filtering and spam controls
  • Device and service compatibility
  • Telephone-number accuracy
  • Internet, cloud, or telephone-service outages
  • Technical errors or maintenance
  • Other carrier or platform limitations

Delivery is not guaranteed. Messages may be delayed, blocked, duplicated, lost, or delivered out of order.

Wireless carriers are not responsible for delayed or undelivered messages.

HHF may modify, suspend, or discontinue the SMS service when reasonably necessary.

10. User responsibilities

By using the SMS service, you agree that:

  • You are authorized to use the mobile number involved

  • You will notify HHF if your number changes, is disconnected, or is reassigned
  • You will not send unlawful, threatening, fraudulent, abusive, or malicious content
  • You will not impersonate another person
  • You will not send malware, deceptive links, or harmful attachments
  • You will not attempt to disrupt or compromise HHF systems
  • You will not use SMS as an emergency-response channel

HHF may restrict or block communications involving threats, harassment, fraud, abuse, unlawful conduct, malicious content, or interference with its systems.

11. No guarantee of assistance or services

Communicating with HHF through SMS does not guarantee:

  • Eligibility for assistance

  • Financial or material assistance
  • Housing, placement, or transportation
  • Medical, legal, financial, or government benefits
  • Services from HHF
  • Services or approval from another organization

HHF may provide general information, resource navigation, or referrals as capacity and available programs allow.

Third-party organizations independently determine eligibility, availability, approval, and service delivery.

Information provided through SMS is not medical, legal, financial, clinical, or emergency advice.

12. Electronic consent and communication records

By agreeing to SMS communication, you understand that HHF may create and retain electronic records involving:

  • Your mobile telephone number
  • The date, time, source, and scope of consent
  • Your messages and communication history
  • Your communication preferences
  • HELP, STOP, START, and related keyword requests
  • Opt-out and renewed-consent records

Records may be retained according to HHF’s privacy, security, legal, tax, insurance, contractual, records-management, and operational requirements.

13. Changes to the SMS service or these terms

HHF may update these terms to reflect changes in:

  • Programs and services
